Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy can accept a $2000 fine after being charged for striking in Friday night's loss to Melbourne.

During the opening half of Melbourne's 46-point win over the Dockers at Optus Stadium, Darcy is seen striking Petracca in the back with his left hand, forcing the Norm Smith medallist to the ground.

The incident has gained scrutiny by the Match Review Officer, who viewed Darcy's actions as Intentional Conduct, Low Impact and Body Contact.

The decision sees Darcy hit with a $3000 fine, which can be lowered to $2000 with an early plea, or challenged at the AFL Tribunal.

The only other incident that gained the attention of the MRO from the Round 20 opener involved Demons forward Kysaiah Pickett, who has been charged with staging.

The incident in question occurred in the second quarter of the match, with Pickett able to accept a $1000 fine.

That fee is reduced from $1500 with an early plea in being classified as a first offence.

Both Pickett and Darcy will be free to play in Round 21, scheduled to face Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs respectively.
