Former St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt believes Adelaide coach Don Pyke should consider dropping skipper Taylor Walker back to the SANFL after another sub-par game from the forward.

Walker was goalless and managed just 12 disposals, and didn't register a score during his side's loss to West Coast.

The 29-year-old has failed to fire in 2019, and Riewoldt believes he shouldn't be exempt from playing in the reserves, especially if his form warrants it.

“I think just because you’re captain doesn’t mean you’re immune to going back to the SANFL,” Riewoldt told SEN Breakfast.

“One thing that’s really important in a football club is integrity of selection.

“If other players are falling into the category form-wise and effort-wise that don’t meet the standards, well then everyone should be exposed to the same level of scrutiny and integrity in selecting the team.”
