Veteran recruits were the stars of Round 13 as notable additions at the AFL's two largest clubs push themselves into the Power Rankings.

A strong performance from a former Blue tightens their stranglehold on the second rank, while an underwhelming afternoon in the wet has caused a pivotal Sun to slip.

Who's making the most impact in their new colours? Welcome to the weekly rankings of the Recruit of the Year contenders for 2025, with Round 12 giving us plenty to consider.

7. James Peatling (-)

The Crows have stamped their name into premiership contention with a thrilling comeback win over Brisbane on Friday night. At the centre of it was James Peatling, whose consistency has helped turn the Crows midfield into one of the more damaging threats in the competition.

It was a stock standard performance from the former Giant on Friday night, creating four inside 50s and a goal assist from his 17 disposals in addition to five tackles, supporting the star cast of Jordan Dawson and Jake Soligo in the scrap in the middle.

With the Hawks on the cards in Tasmania next up, that hunger to win the footy will go a long way in not only securing a win, but they'll have to do it without Peatling given his suspension.
