It's been another massive week of trade news and speculation, with several fresh faces involved in speculation regarding moves and new deals.

With the 2025 Trade Period opening on Monday, October 6, and lasting for just 10 days, significant decisions will need to be made for several clubs and players in the coming weeks.

So, here's all the latest trade news and analysis from the past week...

Melbourne superstar open to trade

Melbourne and Christian Petracca are reportedly open to parting ways in the upcoming trade period.

Channel 9's Tom Morris revealed that the two parties don't "want to be seen as demanding a break-up", but if the right deal came their way, it would be explored.

Petracca is believed to be "open to non-Victorian clubs" this year, with contending clubs Adelaide, Gold Coast and Sydney reportedly in the mix.

Petracca explored a trade away from the club 12 months ago, following his life-threatening injury he sustained in the King's Birthday clash against Collingwood but the plausibility of a trade taking place is low, considering Petracca's lucrative contract that won't expire until 2029.

Essendon leader considered trade request

At least three clubs, including both Port Adelaide and Adelaide, "were made aware" of his potential intention to leave.

However, SEN's Sam Edmund reported that Redman is "committed to Essendon", with manager Ben Williams indicating this stance since the report emerged.

Suns small forward looking for move south

Gold Coast small forward Malcolm Rosas Jnr has reportedly told the club that he will be seeking a trade, but has yet to officially nominate the AFL club he would like to join.

It is believed that Richmond and Sydney are frontrunners for Rosas' services, although cross-town rivals Brisbane were interested in him 12 months ago.

The Suns academy graduate has struggled to cement his spot under Damien Hardwick in the past two seasons, playing 11 games over the past 24 months.

Hawks defender, young Demon linked to rival clubs

Carlton have reportedly shown interest in contracted Hawks backman Changkuoth Jiath while Fremantle are chasing unsigned Demons youngster Judd McVee.

Jiath's future with the Hawks has been speculated on as he continues to be left out of the starting side, having been the sub throughout Hawthorn's September campaign, with reporter Sam McClure believing Carlton are in the hunt for his talents.

According to 7 News' Mitch Cleary, McVee, who grew up in Western Australia, will make the call on where he wishes to play in 2026 soon, but will speak to incoming Demons senior coach Stephen King before making his decision.

Bombers defender Jayden Laverde looks set to make a move north of the Victorian border after reportedly undergoing a medical assessment with the GWS Giants ahead of the free agency window, which opens on October 3rd.

Mihocek to Melbourne?

Off-contract Collingwood forward Brody Mihocek is receiving interest from the Melbourne Demons, who are believed to have "a really strong proposal" on offer for the veteran sharpshooter.

However, Collingwood have also come to the table with a new multi-year deal that would likely see the 32-year-old end his career in the black and white. Mihocek is expected to hold off a call on his future with the Magpies until after their finals run comes to an end, with the mature-aged recruit still weighing up his options.

Another club captain looking for fresh start

North Melbourne skipper Jy Simpkin may be the third club captain to request a trade this off-season, potentially joining current West Coast captain Oscar Allen and Bombers leader Zach Merrett in a desire to leave their respective bottom-four sides.

Simpkin has reportedly become frustrated with North Melbourne over his current role under Alastair Clarkson.

Gold Coast confirm midfielder's trade request

The Suns confirmed this week that emerging midfield talent Sam Flanders is desiring a move elsewhere following his 2025 season exit meeting at the club.

However, Gold Coast seem unlikely to agree with his request, stating that they value him as a required player, with Flanders contracted until 2027.

Reports have suggested Victorian clubs St Kilda, Melbourne, Essendon and Carlton are interested in Flanders' services and he is set to meet with a number of them ahead of the trade period.

Cross-town rival eyeing Swan

Delisted Sydney utility Robbie Fox is reportedly in the sights of GWS as a potential recruit who could bring extra experience to Adam Kingsley's side.

According to AFL.com.au, the Giants are in the market for experienced players who can add some depth to their squad in 2026 and Fox could provide just that for very little monetary value.

According to 9 News' Tom Morris Melbourne have reportedly told defender Steven May to look for a new home in 2026 as the Demons look to preference playing youth next year, unable to guarantee consistent games at senior level for the 2021 premiership stalwart in his final contract year.

Despite being in the market for a key back, the Bulldogs reportedly do not have interest in May, but North Melbourne and Collingwood are expected to be involved in the hunt for his talents.

Curnow to Collingwood?

The Collingwood Magpies have reportedly entered the Charlie Curnow sweepstakes, throwing themselves into trade talks in the hopes of luring the superstar forward from one Victorian powerhouse to another.

According to 7 News' Xander McGuire, Collingwood will be banking on a number of factors in their ploy to steal Curnow from the other circling rival clubs, including Curnow's relationship with Magpies stars Josh and Nick Daicos and the potential departures of current Collingwood forward 50 targets.
