2016 Brownlow Medallist Patrick Dangerfield has started the 2019 campaign in blistering form, and is currently leading the medal count, according to Champion Data.

From the Cats' six games so far, Champion Data has Dangerfield on a predicted 9.0 votes, which is 0.3 votes ahead of Brisbane recruit Lachie Neale.

The 29-year-old is averaging 28.5 disposals, 5.0 marks, 7.2 inside 50s and 5.8 clearances per game so far this season.

The fact that all four of those numbers are down on his 2016 averages says a lot about how impressive his 33-vote Brownlow Medal-winning campaign was.

Neale is second after a hot start to the year for the Lions, while former Port Adelaide skipper Travis Boak is close by in third.

The 30-year-old is gearing up to play his 250th AFL game on Friday night, when the Power take on the Pies at Marvel Stadium.

Fremantle's Nat Fyfe (7.7 votes), Carlton's Patrick Cripps (7.5) and GWS' Stephen Coniglio (7.2) round out the six players who Champion Data believe have seven votes or more to date.
