Essendon coach John Worsfold believes his club will "seriously consider" out-of-favour Western Bulldogs forward Jake Stringer in the upcoming trade period.

Stringer will likely be shopped by the Dogs after a disagreement between the two parties in his exit meeting on last week.

Essendon's season came to a crashing end on Saturday afternoon, going down by 65 points to a rampant Sydney outfit, and Worsfold says the club will now turn their attention to the off-season, and which players they will target and bring to their club.

“We will get more into looking at the names potentially available,” Worsfold told SEN Breakfast on Monday morning.

“It isn’t a big list but we will look through them and say, do they fit into what we are trying to build, or are they possibly available for us, and then we will move forward.

“If Stringer is on that list, obviously he is an All-Australian player, we will have to seriously consider what he might offer us if he is available.”

The 23-year-old forward has reportedly expressed his desire to stay in Victoria with his two children, and a number of clubs have already showed interest in the All-Australian.

St Kilda and Geelong are keeping tabs on Stringer, who could only manage 24 goals from 16 games this season, while averaging 12.4 disposals, 2.8 inside 50s and three marks per game.
