Western Bulldogs coach, Luke Beveridge, has already stated his captain, Easton Wood, will remain in attack in season 2018.

Beveridge's decision comes after ex-captain, and cult hero, Bob Murphy said it was a failed experiment and to abandon it while it's still fresh. However, Beveridge has stated, that with the right delivery he will fit perfectly in the forward half of the ground.

"He's a very supreme athlete in this code, He’s got great speed, endurance, enormous courage, he’s a tremendous aerialist, his ground level stuff is quite adequate and his kicking is okay,” Beveridge told SEN’s Whateley.

“We'll persist with that. It’s great having him there as an option to swing back, if we get an injury, but we’re really optimistic our back six will hold up okay.”

However, with the injury setback to key defender, Marcus Adams, the temptation to throw Wood back into defence could come sooner than expected for Beveridge.

The Bulldogs will head to Canberra to face the Giants this week and may have a few surprises come selection time, with new recruits Josh Schache, Jackson Trengove and Hayden Crozier all looking to debut in their new colours.

“I think we've picked 19-20, and there's 2-3 to finalise over the course of the week."
