The AFL have released the three-week long JLT Community Series fixture for 2018, with each club scheduled to play just two matches in the shortened format.

Next year's JLT Community Series will run from February 24-March 11, with a full round of matches over the final weekend.

2017 premiers Richmond will face Essendon in Wangaratta on the opening day, before hosting North Melbourne at Ikon Park under lights on Wednesday, March 7.

A number of new recruits could face their old clubs during the pre-season schedule, with Port Adelaide travelling west to face the Eagles on the opening weekend, in what could be Brandon Ah Chee's first game against his old Power teammates.

Gary Ablett is set to face his old side in week two, as Geelong travel to Townsville for their clash with the Gold Coast.

In the final week of the competition, all non-Victorian clubs will not travel, meaning we'll see derbies in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney all on the one weekend.

All 18 games will be broadcast on Fox Footy, means fans will get to see their side in action, even with some matches at regional grounds.
