The National Championships title was claimed by South Australia over the weekend, while the Allies and Western Australia battled it out in a close contest in Sunday's double-header.

That second match saw a WA utility shine to grow his prospects, while a Swans Academy talent won the game with the final goal.

The Coates Talent League saw a pair of small forwards boot bags of goals, while a double bottom-ager had a stellar debut for the Western Jets.

SA go undefeated to claim National Championships

South Australia have won their first U18s Boys National Championships in seven years after going undefeated at this year's carnival.

The Croweaters claimed a 34-point win over Vic Country at Marvel Stadium on Sunday to secure their 4-0 finish, with captain Dyson Sharp winning MVP honours for his state.

West Adelaide key forward Mitch Marsh booted five goals in his side's final game of the carnival to bring his tally to 12 goals from a quartet of appearances, with teammate Aidan Schubert ending his National Championships with 10 to also be in first-round draft contention.

Richmond father-son Louis Kellaway featured among his side's best over the weekend to cap off a strong carnival, while defender Jett Dahlitz was among SA's top performers to add to his prospects for 2025.

Sharp was again a dominant presence in midfield against Vic Country, amassing 23 disposals, 11 contested possessions, five clearances, six inside 50s and a goal.

He looms as the favourite for the Larke Medal, potentially adding to his South Australia MVP gong.

Allies win thriller over WA

A goal from Sydney Academy gun Max King in the dying seconds of Sunday's clash between the Allies and Western Australia at Marvel Stadium was enough for the 'home' side to collect their first win of the carnival.

A bursting run from the back half for Allies utility and Suns Academy prospect Dylan Patterson set up King's game-clinching set-shot, with Patterson going past a number of Balck Ducks and taking multiple bounces before finding King on the lead.

The last major of the match saw the Allies claim a five-point win, with King the only multiple goalkicker for his side.

Patterson was among his side's best, recording 20 disposals, six inside 50s and 561 metres gained.

King's Swans Academy teammate Lachy Carmichael was solid in defence, while Lions Academy midfielder Dan Annable was a key cog through the middle.

Despite being on the losing side. Western Australia's Jacob Farrow was a best on shout, helping his draft stocks soar further after a strong display in defence.

The West Perth teenager had 803 metres gained from 29 disposals, while he moved the ball at 89.7% efficiency. Farrow also collected nine marks, six intercept possessions and four score involvements in the game.

WA small forward Luke Hallett added to his two goals against South Australia with a further three against the Allies, now going at 2.5 goals per game these National Championships.

Essendon NGA shines with big goal haul

Bombers-tied small forward Hussien El Achkar had his best day in front of goal over the weekend against the Sandringham Dragons, booting six goals and no behinds in a one-point loss for the Calder Cannons.

El Achkar had kicked 11 goals and nine behinds in the Coates Talent League prior to the weekend, booting at least one goal in every game but often finding the behinds too.

The teenager stole the show on Saturday against the Dragons, booting a bag to bring his total to 17 goals for the season.

Fellow Essendon NGA talent Adam Sweid had a game-high 34 disposals in the match, with Gus Papal and bottom-ager Blake Justice among Calder's best.

Top-rated Dragons forward Archie Ludowyke kicked four goals from nine disposals in the game, with Xavier Bamert also impressing with 19 disposals and two majors of his own.

Dovaston adds to dominant formย

Vic Metro attacker Lachy Dovaston had another day out for the Eastern Ranges over the weekend, kicking four goals in an 11-goal win over the GWV Rebels.

The haul was Dovaston's seventh game of multiple majors from nine appearances in the Coates Talent League this year, making him one of the more potent small forwards in the competition.

His latest performance follows a five-goal game against the Geelong Falcons in the lead-up to Vic Metro's next match at the National Championships.

His Ranges teammate Darcy Jamieson was also prolific in front of goal, kicking three majors in the heavy victory.

Eastern's Sullivan Robey has had a positive two-game start to his CTL campaign, booting another two goals from 15 disposals and eight marks against the Rebels.

Top 10 prospect Ollie Greeves was again a key player for the Ranges, having a game-high 33 disposals.

Geelong's Jack Pickett kicks four more

Falcons bottom-ager Jack Pickett has caught the eye with an impressive start to his Coates Talent League career, kicking nine goals in his first three games at the level.

The 193cm talent booted four goals over the weekend against Dandenong to have his best outing yet, adding to hauls of two and three earlier in the season.

Fellow Falcon Daniel Lowther could've had a bigger return if it wasn't for some inaccuracy, amassing three goals and four behinds in the five-goal win over the Stingrays.

Richmond father-son Archie Daffy was Geelong's other multiple goalkicker, coming away with two majors in his second game of the season.

Over-ager Kobe George played his first game since Round 6 as the Falcons required some reinforcements due to Vic Country's schedule, with the recent Geelong VFL debutant having 28 disposals in the win.

Double bottom-ager has shining debut

2027 prospect Jake Miller had a Coates Talent League debut to remember over the weekend for the Western Jets, booting four goals in a loss to the Oakleigh Chargers.

The 195cm forward had 18 disposals, 11 marks and three inside 50s in his maiden showing at the level in what eventually became a 30-point loss at Avalon Airport Oval.

The game will strengthen Miller's prospects for the coming years ahead of what is shaping to be a strong 2027 draft crop.

Jets attacker Oskar Ainsworth almost followed up his five-goal game from last week with another bag, but managed one goal from five scoring shots in the loss to the Chargers.

Western Jets gun Tom McGuane had a game-high 28 touches, while his AFL Academy teammate Louis Emmett was solid for Oakleigh, recording two goals from 22 disposals and 13 hitouts.
