Adelaide will unleash top ten draft selection Dan Curtin in Thursday night's Showdown clash against Port Adelaide.

Curtin, who was drafted with the eighth overall pick in last year's National Draft, has started his first season at West Lakes playing at SANFL level in the Crows' backline.

The teenager enjoyed his best game of the season last Saturday in Adelaide's loss to North Adelaide, collecting a team-high 31 disposals as well as seven marks and three rebound 50s.

His strong run of form at the state league level is set to see Curtin earn a call-up to Matthew Nicks' side, with the Western Australian to be named for an AFL debut this week ahead of Round 8's highly-anticipated Showdown clash.

Rated as one of the more versatile and ready-made prospects of his draft class, Curtin is capable of playing across all three lines of the field.

The Crows will be forced into at least one change for their clash with the Power, with forward Luke Pedlar sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Key defender Jordon Butts is in the selection frame after returning from a hamstring injury, while Brodie Smith (back) and Sam Berry (foot) are in the mix after missing Round 7.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide will name their 23-man sides for Thursday's clash at 6:20pm (AEST) on Wednesday night.
