St Kilda youngster Marcus Windhager is being targeted by three rival clubs heading into the upcoming off-season.

Melbourne, Essendon and North Melbourne are understood to be "chasing him hard" as he weighs up a two-year deal from the Saints.

Windhager is currently uncontracted for 2026 and has slipped under the radar due to the persistent noise around teammate and housemate Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Carlton free agent Tom De Koning, who appears bound for the Saints.

"There's a three-club chase for Marcus Windhager," Riley Beveridge said on AFL Media's Gettable.

"Melbourne, Essendon and North Melbourne are all clubs chasing his signature.

"He's one of the more under-the-radar contracted players heading into this trade period, because clubs are chasing him hard, because they have the belief that he's gettable.

"There's a real watch on this one, particularly with Melbourne and Essendon."

It was also reported by Fox Footy that GWS is readying their pitch to Windhager, who could be paired up with former junior teammate Finn Callaghan.

The St Kilda youngster has yearned for more premium midfield minutes, but has fallen behind the likes of Jack Macrae, Jack Steele, Jack Sinclair, Wanganeen-Milera and Zak Jones at times.

Windhager has been subject to tagging roles and, admittedly, held superstars Marcus Bontempelli and Nick Daicos.

But the allure of commanding more on-ball minutes sees the likes of the Demons, Bombers and Kangaroos throw their hat in the ring.

It comes as reports have indicated that leaders Callum Wilkie and Steele could be recruited by a rival club, while Geelong has targeted ruckman Rowan Marshall.
