Another weekend, another absolutely jam-packed round of footy to appease the masses all around Australia.

Whether it was the Saints giving the Tigers a hiding, Brisbane putting the Cats to the sword or even the Roos getting one over the Suns in Tassie, there was action all over the place.

With this, let's see how it affects our power rankings list and where your team has shifted since last week.

1. Melbourne (-)

The Dees would have been wiping their brows after that one, with the Bombers putting up a heck of a fight to only lose out to Simon Goodwin's men by 11 points.

Melbourne fans would have seen this one as a danger match considering the trouble that Essendon has caused in recent times against bigger sides, but they managed to outlast their tenacious opponents.

RELATED: Five trade targets for EVERY club: Melbourne

It was the familiar faces for Melbourne that put in big shifts, with Christian Petracca (26 disposals and two goals), Clayton Oliver (34 disposals and seven clearances) and Christian Salem (26 disposals) running the show for the flag favourites on a tricky night for the club.

With this win, Melbourne keep their top spot and go a step further towards securing the minor premiership. Next week sees them welcome the Giants to the 'G in what should be an easy win going off of GWS' performance against the Hawks.

2. Western Bulldogs (+1)

The Doggies put their foot to the floor against the Eagles at Optus Stadium in front of another empty crowd in Perth.

Luke Beveridge's side hit the front in the first term and never looked back, running out 55-point victors as they aim to keep in touch with Melbourne in top spot.

In a phrase that might as well be copy and pasted into each rendition of Power Rankings, the Bulldogs' midfield were the stars of the show lead by Marcus Bontempelli (29 disposals, three goals and seven tackles), Bailey Smith (31 disposals, two goals and five tackles) and Jack Macrae (32 disposals and one goal). If the Doggies go on to win the whole thing this year, then they will have these men in the middle to thank for it.

Although they will most likely get a home qualifying final, the only way for them to do it is to obviously keep winning. They shouldn't have an issue doing so next week as they play North Melbourne, hoping to replicate their 128-point Good Friday win in April.

3. Brisbane (+1)

The Lions blew the Cats away on Thursday night, demolishing Chris Scott's side at the Gabba and further validating their claim as one of the true premiership favourites.

Brisbane started lightning fast, pulling out to a five-goal quarter time lead that never looked in doubt of being diminished by a poor Cats side that was aiming to extend it's hoodoo over the Lions.

It was the tale of the forwards in this one with Charlie Cameron (three goals) tormenting the Geelong defence. Joe Daniher had a great haul with four majors, whilst veteran Daniel Rich continued his consistent form with 25 disposals off half-back.

The Lions are steaming towards securing their spot in the top four, but will be aiming for second spot considering the advantage of playing at home. This week however they have fled Brisbane amongst the growing COVID crisis in eastern Australia and will play the Crows in Adelaide.

4. Geelong (-2)

The Cats were bitterly disappointing against the aforementioned Lions, going down by 44 points in Brisbane.

Following their incredible win over the Doggies the previous round, Chris Scott no doubt would have been fuming that they were so comprehensively beaten by a close rival.

Patrick Dangerfield was a standout for the losing side with 23 touches and a goal whilst Cam Guthrie had plenty of the ball, finishing with 34 touches on a disastrous night for his side.

It's hard to get a true read on where the Cats will be in regards to whether they secure a home final or are forced to travel. The fact of the matter is that they will have to win almost all of their remaining matches to get a home qualifying final and will be looking to do so against the dangerous Bombers.

5. Port Adelaide (-)

Port Adelaide played out an enthralling match at home to the Swans, just pipping John Longmire's team to the post by 10 points.

It was a see-sawing encounter with the Sydney leading early on before Port reeled them in. A tense last quarter saw the Power outlast the Swans in a great contest overall.

Travis Boak had an influential match out of the middle with 29 touches and a goal whilst big man Scott Lycett was instrumental in the ruck with 38 hitouts and a goal deep in the last term being crucial to his side's victory.

This victory combined with the Cats losing on Thursday has put the Power well into the thick of the top four battle as they now sit in the four on equal footing with both Brisbane above them and Geelong below them. Next week they face the Hawks in Melbourne and will have to be on their game to avoid an upset.

6. West Coast (-)

After all the hope they had garnered from their win over the Tigers, the Eagles slumped to a disappointing defeat against the Bulldogs at home.

In what was to be played in front of a bumper crowd, West Coast were considerably mismatched against the class and tempo of Luke Beveridge's side.

Shannon Hurn had plenty of ball down in defence, finishing with 26 touches as his side were consistently under siege from the savage Doggies attack. Nic Naitanui was dominant in the ruck with 39 hit-outs and 20 disposals whilst Brad Sheppard too was influential with 24 touches.

Things just aren't seeming to come together on a consistent basis for Adam Simpson and his side in 2021 and they will have to dig deep to get a home final. Having to relocate to Melbourne might be difficult for the side, and they will have it all to do this week against a Swans side that can be ruthless at times.

7. Sydney (+1)

The Swans put up a stern fight against the Power in Adelaide on Saturday night but could not come away with the four points as they went down by 10 points.

Sydney hit the lead at several points throughout the match but could not hold on for the win, with two late goals from the Power sealing the defeat.

Lance Franklin rolled back the years with a four goal performance, kicking his 970th goal as well as being put on report for a dangerous incident with Jarrod Lienert in the first term.

Luke Parker (34 disposals and one goal) and Callum Mills (30 disposals and ten clearances) were standouts for the Swans too as they look to press on and secure a top eight position.

The Swans now are on the road for the foreseeable future as they take on the Eagles down in Geelong. West Coast are vulnerable and Sydney will be wanting to take advantage of this as they search for a finals berth.

8. Richmond (-1)

In one of their worst performances of the past five seasons, Richmond managed only 2.10 for the entire match as they were put to the sword by St. Kilda at the MCG.

The Tigers were woeful around the ground, with basic skill errors leading to horrible efficiency inside 50 in a match that would've evoked memories of pre-2017 Richmond in the minds of supporters.

Marlion Pickett was one of the very few standouts on the night with 24 touches whilst his midfield partner in Jack Graham was solid too with 23 disposals.

RELATED: Why the Tigers have dropped out of premiership contention

It seems as if the Tigers might just not be up to it this year, with the hunger that drove them to back-to-back flags seemingly not there anymore.

Coupled with syndesmosis injuries to Noah Balta and Nathan Broad, it might be time to put a pin in Richmond in season 2021 unless they manage to be flawless from this point on. This week they go up against the lowly Suns, who have to travel to Melbourne off the back of the COVID crisis in Queensland, making things a whole lot easier for the Tigers.

9. Essendon (-)

The Bombers once again put up a very admirable display against a top class side in Melbourne on Saturday night, narrowly missing out on the four points.

The Essendon faithful were outraged at full time with some questionable umpiring decisions supposedly marring the result.

Despite this, there were some fantastic all around performances from the Bombers. Zach Merrett (41 disposals and eight tackles) and Darcy Parish (37 disposals and eight clearances) were huge for Essendon in the middle of the park, whilst Dyson Heppell was big off half-back with a goal and 26 disposals.

Once again, there is no doubt that the Bombers have potential to be a force to be reckoned with in the future. As of present it's about chalking up the wins and developing their youngsters to a level where they can contend with and beat the best.

They are still in touch with the top eight, only a win off of Richmond and could shrink that margin if they somehow pull off an upset this week against the Cats down at GMHBA Stadium.

10. Fremantle (-)

Many expected for the Dockers to come off second best as they traveled to Melbourne to take on the Pies, however it was quite the opposite as Justin Longmuir's side snatched the four points against Robert Harvey's side.

It was a great performance from a Fremantle side that amazingly finds themselves outside the eight on percentage alone, with a number of their stars coming to the fore in this encounter.

David Mundy continued his remarkable late-career rise, finishing with 28 touches and six tackles, whilst Andrew Brayshaw kept up his great form with 24 touches and a goal. Rory Lobb and Lachie Schultz chipped in on the scoresheet too, both finishing with three apiece.

The Dockers are in prime position to capitalise should anyone fall out of the eight, but will need to boost their percentage to have a chance. They travel to Melbourne again to play the Blues, with their 'home' match most likely being played in Geelong at Kardinia Park.

11. St. Kilda (+4)

No one saw this result coming. The rampaging Saints stuck it to the reigning premiers and came out on top by a resounding 40 points at the MCG on Friday.

Most of the talk from this match was around the Tigers' insipid display but the Saints were fantastic all around the ground, consistently capitalising on Richmond's turnovers and keeping them to a measly two goals for the evening.

Luke Dunstan was huge in the middle and easily best-on-ground with 32 touches and a goal. Jack Steele was also monstrous, finishing with 25 touches, nine clearances and nine tackles as he guided his side to a win for the ages.

Similar to the Bombers, the Saints amazingly find themselves only four points out of the eight. If they manage to string together some results over the next few weeks, starting against the underwhelming Pies, then perhaps there is a small chance they could sneak into finals contention.

12. GWS (-1)

The Giants were woeful against the Hawks on Sunday afternoon, putting up a shocking display as they slumped to another disappointing loss.

Their win against the Blues looked like it could be the start of something good for Leon Cameron's side, but those indicators proved false as they went down by 18 points.

Lachie Whitfield continued his solid run of performances finishing with 32 disposals and six tackles, whilst Nick Haynes (18 disposals, nine intercepts) and Harry Perryman (29 touches and a goal) were also impressive for GWS.

RELATED: Five trade targets for EVERY club: Greater Western Sydney

The Giants have put up some great performances in 2021 but some absolute head-scratchers. It baffles how they can beat Sydney, West Coast and Carlton yet lose to sides like Hawthorn and draw with North Melbourne.

This week they go up against the Dees and will likely be put to the sword by them if they don't dish up a more comprehensive performance.

13. Carlton (+1)

The Blues had a win they desperately needed over the Crows on Sunday evening, staving off a late comeback to win by 10 points.

David Teague is under immense pressure at the minute however this win coupled with the signing of Patrick Cripps on a life-time deal would have taken a bit of heat off of him.

Sam Walsh was a ball magnet all day finishing with 38 touches whilst recruit Zac Williams responded positively to criticism in the media with 24 touches and a goal. Eddie Betts turned it on against his former side as well with three majors for the match.

Despite this win, Carlton are still a long way off where they want (or need) to be. It's a good win however there is still a plethora of work that needs to be done. This week they go up against the Dockers with the match likely being played at a neutral venue in Victoria, boding very well for the Blues.

14. Adelaide (-2)

The Crows had a disappointing runout against the Blues on Sunday, going down narrowly in a match Matthew Nicks would have been expecting to make a bit more of.

Adelaide were in front at quarter time but fell off in the next two quarters, with a last quarter mini-comeback not being enough to reel in the Blues.

Ben Keays was the standout for his side with 30 touches and a goal, whilst his midfield partner in Rory Laird was just as deadly with 34 touches and eight clearances. Taylor Walker might have gotten a couple more if it wasn't for inaccuracy, but he still had a solid day finishing with 3.4.

Thankfully for Adelaide they're one of the only sides outside of Victoria that hasn't had to relocate south-east and can enjoy having the luxury of being in a familiar environment similar to last year. This week they welcome the Lions to Adelaide Oval in what will be a huge test for Matthew Nicks.

15. Hawthorn (+1)

The Hawks are putting up some really promising performances as of late and managed to chalk up another win this week against the Giants.

In a match that was expected to go the other way, Hawthorn came up big with some great offensive work that saw them get one over Leon Cameron's side.

Dylan Moore had a spectacular day with a career best four goals, whilst Tim O'Brien took a definite mark of the year contender with a great grab running back with the flight.

Tom Mitchell was his usual industrious self in the middle finishing with a mammoth haul of 40 touches, whilst Jack Scrimshaw was incredible down back with 28 disposals and nine intercepts.

With each passing week it seems the Hawks are growing in confidence with their game-style and chemistry. The Hawks will meet the Power next up at Marvel Stadium, with a real chance to spring another upset on a top eight team.

16. Collingwood (-2)

Just when we thought the Pies might have been on the rise, they go and dish up a performance to forget.

Collingwood under interim coach Robert Harvey stumbled against the Dockers going down by 12 points to Justin Longmuir's side.

Taylor Adams and Steele Sidebottom had an industrious day in midfield, combining for 57 disposals, whilst Brayden Maynard was a rock in defence finishing with 27 touches and six tackles.

Collingwood would be disappointed to get off on the wrong foot under their new management, with the performance against the Demons showing fans what could be in the future with the talent they possess.

Round 16 is a real opportunity for Collingwood to get a good win over a side in a vaguely similar position to them in St. Kilda. They will have to hark back to their match against the Demons and channel the same fight and style of play they displayed in Sydney.

17. North Melbourne (+1)

For the first time this year, North Melbourne find themselves off the bottom of the Power Rankings list with a win over the Suns in Tasmania.

In a good day for the Roos, David Noble managed to guide his side to their second win of the season overcoming Stuart Dew's side by nine points.

Ben Cunnington was one of the Roos' many great performers around the ground with 28 touches and eight clearances. Big man Todd Goldstein was incredibly dominant in the ruck too racking up 44 hitouts, whilst Luke Davies-Uniacke was influential with 26 touches and a goal from the middle.

RELATED: Five trade targets for EVERY club: North Melbourne

The Roos will have one of the biggest tests of their year as they come up against the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. They will be aiming to not have a repeat of their Good Friday horror show, and are in good stead to put up a much better fight than previous.

18. Gold Coast (-1)

Gold Coast now find themselves rock bottom of the Power Rankings after a disappointing result against the bottom-placed Roos.

The Suns found themselves in the lead at half-time but could not hold back North Melbourne as they ran over the top of them in Tasmania.

Touk Miller, as he consistently is week-in week-out, was great for the Suns with 32 touches, five clearances and five tackles whilst ex-Tiger Brandon Ellis was solid as he finished with 27 disposals. Josh Corbett also starred with three goals on an overall disappointing day for Stuart Dew and his side.

This result does little to take the blowtorch off of Dew with the club's top brass not making it a secret by any means that results must come and come quickly.

Things don't get any easier this week as they face a wounded Richmond side who will be hungry to get back on track. The COVID situation in Queensland also means that they will have to travel to Victoria instead of playing at home, making the situation even more difficult.
