Former Adelaide defender Brent Reilly has re-joined his former club as a development coach.

Reilly, who played 203 games for Adelaide, retired in February 2015 after suffering several skull fractures following a severe head knock at training.

The 34-year-old moved into coaching following the premature end to his football career and was an assistant coach in the South Australian Amateur Football League with the Henley Sharks.

He was promoted to the role of senior coach before being offered a role with Adelaide.

Reilly was recruited with pick No.12 in the 2001 National Draft, which became known as the Superdraft, yielding players such as Gary Ablett, Luke Hodge and Chris Judd.
