Collingwood eyeing heralded Blues defender

The Magpies have emerged as a suitor for out-of-contract Carlton defender Jack Silvagni, the son and grandson of Blues team of the century members Stephen and Sergio Silvagni.

Collingwood's interest appears to come from preparations for the future without Jeremy Howe, while Silvagni is yet to recommit to the Blues despite having a four-year contract on the table, according to the Herald Sun. The contract is reportedly close to a value of $700,000 per season but Collingwood's offer is higher.

Silvagni is in career-best form, averaging 13.8 disposals and 5.8 marks per game, and looks set to enter the off-season as an unrestricted free agent. Magpies senior coach Craig McRae ignited speculation further by telling media during the week that he would be willing to meet with Silvagni to discuss the opportunity of donning the black and white stripes.

Melbourne targeting Giants swingman, retired premiership hero

The Demons are looking to bolster the depth of their key tall stocks in 2026 as they ramp up their pursuit of two key forwards; out-of-favour Giant Wade Derksen and recently retired premiership Lion Joe Daniher.

The Demons are reportedly "leading the chase" to acquire the signature of Derksen, with Channel 7's Xander McGuire stating the 24-year-old has "a desire to get to Victoria or Western Australia.”

Derksen is yet to feature at AFL level for the Giants and has not received a contract extension for 2026. A move to Victoria appears likely after the 24-year-old requested a trade there in the 2024 trade period, but the Giants did not take up his request.

Melbourne senior coach Simon Goodwin is "attempting to convince" Daniher to return to the AFL after he announced a shock retirement during Brisbane's premiership celebrations. The 31-year-old lives in New South Wales currently and while a return to Victoria appears unlikely, he does have connections with the club, Goodwin notably an assistant coach at the Bombers with Daniher for two years.

Eagles star offered $20 million dollar contract

Intrigue over Harley Reid's future has heightened this week as numerous reports suggested he had been tabled a long-term contract valued at over $20 million dollars by West Coast, or a short-term extension at $2 million per season for two years.

According to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, the Eagles are prepared to blow rivals out of the water, which could see Reid sign for an extra two years, with an option to extend for a further nine, making it "an 11-year arrangement" until 2037.

It comes after Hawthorn was reported as being "near-on obsessed" with acquiring Reid, and are willing to offer him an eight to 10-year deal at over $1.7 million per season.

Potential St Kilda trade targets

The Saints are unofficially in a rebuild but have built a strong core of young talent through the draft, namely Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Marcus Windhager.

However, bolstering their playing list with more firepower will be key to speeding up their progression towards contention, especially considering the reported "war chest" of assets they hold.

We've listed five potential options for St Kilda to consider.

Carlton spearhead forward keen to leave Melbourne bubble as three suitors emerge

Blues superstar Charlie Curnow is reportedly looking for a "lifestyle" change and could seek a move to the Gold Coast Suns this off-season. Sydney and Geelong are also potential landing spots for the 2023 Coleman Medallist.

Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick didn't shy away from the report, stating that he understood the appeal of the Gold Coast lifestyle.

"Like every other club, we're trying to improve our list," Hardwick said on Thursday. "Taking the Curnow name out of it, what I do know is people will start to look at Gold Coast as an unbelievable lifestyle. Trust me, I know. I live it."

Curnow is currently tied down to a lengthy contract with Carlton, meaning the club would not be obligated to agree to trade him until the end of 2029. According to 9 News' Tom Morris, Carlton have told Curnow he is not for sale while coach Michael Voss told media this week that the report was purely "speculation" and that Curnow will "stay a Carlton man".

Curnow also downplayed the rumours when quizzed, confirming he will play at Carlton in 2026. However, the story will certainly be one to watch as Curnow approaches the end of his contract.

Suns midfielder open to move

Contracted Gold Coast midfielder Alex Davies is reportedly "open to changing clubs" at the end of this year despite re-signing with the Suns less than 12 months ago.

The 23-year-old has been unable to break into the Suns elite midfield group, yet to feature in the senior side so far in 2025. He's averaged 23.2 disposals, 5.4 tackles and 6.5 clearances per game at the VFL level.

With Matthew Rowell re-signing earlier in the season and Noah Anderson and Touk Miller also contracted until 2027, it's unlikely Davies has a future at the club and has shown the potential to excel elsewhere, suggesting a move south could be on the cards.

Bulldogs showing interest in two pending free agents

The Western Bulldogs have their eyes set on acquiring two interstate out-of-contract players in the 2025 off-season, with AFL.com.au reporting the club has established interest in Fremantle midfielder Neil Erasmus and GWS wingman Jacob Wehr.

Erasmus has played 10 games in 2025 but has struggled to cement his place in Fremantle's starting side despite averaging a career-high 15.2 disposals, 3.0 clearances and 2.8 inside 50s per game.

Wehr similarly has featured in just 12 games for the Giants this season, falling out of coach Adam Kingsley's favour after featuring in 10 consecutive matches to begin the season. He also has reported interest from Port Adelaide and has averaged a career-high 14.6 disposals in 2025.

West Coast targeting premiership free agent

The Eagles are well and truly in the mix for one of the remaining restricted free agents of the 2025 class, with reports revealing they are keen on Brisbane premiership defender Brandon Starcevich.

Starcevich, who grew up in Western Australia, is said to be weighing up his future, with more opportunity and better pay causing him to lean toward testing the open market.
