Two days after releasing the fixture for Rounds 9-12, the AFL looks set to reschedule the Blues and Hawks clash.

Featuring in the football frenzy that will see 33 AFL games played in 20 games, the Carlton and Hawthorn match at Optus Stadium is scheduled for next Thursday, July 30.

However, speaking on Wednesday night's Footy Classified, veteran journalist Caroline Wilson reported that the AFL was in talks to move the game.

“The first in a Thursday doubleheader was to have been Carlton-Hawthorn. I think because of the short break before that game and the really long break both for Carlton and Hawthorn after that game … they’re looking at moving that game, which is going to be in Perth." Caroline Wilson told Footy Classified on Wednesday night.

“They’re going to move that game, I think, to the Friday night. It will be on in a double-header on Friday now, followed by Essendon-Brisbane, which is been playing at Metricon.

“It makes sense. Carlton and Hawthorn are only just hearing about it now. I gather Hawthorn might’ve made this point to the AFL that players don’t want these long breaks.”

Carlton and Hawthorn are scheduled to have byes in Round 10.
