The Adelaide Crows and Fremantle have engaged in a pick swap ahead of next month's AFL draft.

The Crows have sent Picks 56 and 63 to the Dockers in exchange for a future fourth-round pick.

Dockers executive general manager of football Peter Bell said the trade gave the club more flexibility ahead of the draft.

“Our trade with Adelaide essentially means we have secured a third and a fourth round selection in exchange for a future fourth round selection,” Bell told the club website.

“The trade gives us further pick flexibility and point value should we decide to match any bid on our Next Generation Academy players.”

It leaves Fremantle with Picks 12, 32, 55, 56 and 63, while the Crows hold selections 1, 9, 22, 23, 40 and 80.

The national draft will be held next month on December 9.
