The AFL's Match Review Officer has handed down two charges from Thursday's contest between Port Adelaide and Carlton, with Power ruckman Dante Visentini not among those handed punishments.

The MRO has offered an explanation as to why Visentini has avoided a rough conduct charge for an incident involving Adam Saad in the second quarter, stating the Port Adelaide youngster's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances.

"The incident involving Port Adelaide's Dante Visentini and Carlton's Adam Saad from the Second Quarter of Thursday night's match was assessed by the Match Review Officer," the MRO said in a statement.

"Travis Boak has possession of the ball and as Boak handballs the ball in the direction of Visentini, Saad turns to follow the direction of the ball and into the path of Visentini. Visentini braces for contact, making high contact with Saad in the collision that ensues.

"It was the view of the MRO that Visentini's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and did not constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken."

Meanwhile, Carlton's Charlie Curnow and Port Adelaide's Lachie Jones have both been charged with engaging in a melee/wrestle in the third term.

Both players have been fined $1500, which can be reduced to $1000 with an early plea.

No other players were charged from the Round 16 match.
