A Brisbane forward kicked a haul that will put him in the selection frame once again, continuing his impressive form in the reserve grade.

Essendon could look at another MSD pick-up to add to the growing list of debutants for 2025, while a host of young Cats continue to mount pressure on the senior side.

The Bombers also unveiled a 2025 draft and NGA prospect, while the Lions and Demons also got a glimpse of the future as some of their linked guns took to the VFL stage.

Here's a recap of the VFL's weekend results and the standout performers from each game.

Frankston Dolphins (85) def. by Footscray Bulldogs (102)

A monster game from Riley Garcia led the Bulldogs to an important victory over Frankston.

Garcia had 39 possessions, 11 clearances and three tackles. He was joined by VFL-listed onballer Cooper Craig-Peters, who also excelled through the midfield with 31 disposals and seven clearances.

Caleb Poulter and Harvey Gallagher both kicked three goals in the win, while emerging defender Jedd Busslinger continued his impressive form in the reserve grade.

Liam Jones was quiet with 13 touches and five marks.

As for the Dolphins, Jackson Voss (37 disposals, nine marks and four tackles) and Trent Mynott (29 possessions, five clearances and four tackles) did everything in their power to turn the result.

Multiple goals from Corey Ellison and Kobe Askew kept the scoreboard ticking over, while an inaccurate Clayton Gray (1.3) will rue the chances missed.

Werribee Tigers (79) def. by Geelong (81)

Jhye Clark and George Stevens produced stellar outings for the Cats, putting pressure on the senior side to perform.

The pair combined for 56 disposals, 16 clearances and 15 tackles.

Oliver Henry kicked two goals from 16 possessions, while ruck project Joe Pike recorded 44 hitouts and six tackles.

Mitch Knevitt and Ted Clohesy were also serviceable in the victory.

Werribee ruckman Sam Conway stacked the stat sheet, producing a whopping 57 hitouts, 19 touches, six marks and four clearances.

Dom Brew benefited from his dominance with eight clearances with 11 tackles and 22 disposals.

Tigers forward Hudson Garoni was a standout on the field with five majors.

Sandringham Zebras (45) def. by Southport Sharks (110)

Winners across the entire ground for the Sharks after a smashing of Sandringham Zebras over the weekend.

Jacob Dawson (37 touches, eight clearances and seven marks) and Boyd Woodcock (36 possessions, 12 clearances and seven marks) had a field day through the midfield, while ruckman Brayden Crossley (39 hitouts) kept feeding them.

Multiple goal scorers came in the form of Zac Foot, Taj Hayes, Jacob Heron, Hugh Dixon and Max Pescud.

St Kilda prospect Alix Tauru produced a strong effort across half-back, racking up 12 marks to go with his 16 possessions.

Darcy Wilson and Hugh Boxshall were immense in the midfield, as was Hugo Garcia.

North Melbourne (73) def. by Port Melbourne Borough (96)

A forward masterclass from Jimmy Miller for Port Melbourne proved to be the difference, kicking four goals in the 23-point victory.

Charlie Lazzaro dominated against his former club, registering 34 disposals, seven tackles and five marks, while Tom Hird was huge, gathering 28 touches, five clearances and two goals.

Ex-Essendon captain Dyson Heppell showed his leadership at crucial times while getting plenty of the ball, as did skipper Harvey Hooper (24 touches and six tackles).

Kangaroos midfielder Will Phillips was strong in the contest, amassing 12 tackles and six clearances along with his 26 touches.

Finnbar Maley slotted three goals, as did Zane Duursma, to keep North Melbourne in the game.

Callum Coleman-Jones is building toward an AFL recall after playing an impressive game as a ruck-forward.

Coburg Lions (50) def. by Box Hill Hawks (88)

A host of Hawthorn players are putting the pressure on their senior teammates after eye-catching outings over the weekend.

Ruckman Ned Reeves was pivotal in the win over Coburg, racking up 43 hitouts, 16 possessions, five marks and a goal.

Finn Maginness and Cam Mackenzie benefited from the ruck superiority, recording nine clearances each and 30 possessions.

Sam Frost has been redeployed in the front half after being dropped as a defender earlier in the year, kicking three goals from 14 touches.

Lions midfielder Joel Trudgeon continued his brilliant season to date, amassing 32 possessions, 11 tackles and 11 clearances.

Former Pie Jack Bytel matched his teammate with an impressive outing, while Donovan Toohey and Lachlan Walker were also notable performers.

Casey Demons (112) def. Essendon (83)

A four-goal outing from VFL-listed Demon Paddy Cross helped set up a strong victory over a plucky Essendon outfit.

Ex-Saint Riley Bonner found plenty of the ball, collecting 33 disposals and a goal in the win.

Project ruck Will Verrall (21 touches, 44 hitouts, eight clearances and three tackles) showed there's hope after Max Gawn, while Bailey Laurie put his hand up for senior selection.

Father-son prospect Kalani White also featured for Casey, kicking two goals from nine possessions, whilst also featuring in the ruck.

MSD forward Liam McMahon is inching toward an AFL debut after kicking four goals for the Bombers in the defeat.

Dylan Shiel was valiant in the loss, recording 27 disposals, two goals and seven clearances. Elijah Tsatas matched him with eight clearances to go with his 30 touches. Ben Hobbs was serviceable following his return to the VFL.

Calder Cannons livewire Adam Sweid (one goal and 10 touches) featured for Essendon over the weekend.

Brisbane (159) def. GWS (74)

Will McLachlan takes his goal tally to 24 majors after a six-goal effort in the 75-point win.

Oscar McInerney featured in the VFL in his bid to overcome multiple injury niggles, recording 45 hitouts, seven clearances and 17 possessions.

Deven Robertson feasted on McInerney's experience, amassing 36 touches, eight clearances and nine tackles.

Fergus McFadyen slotted four majors, while Brandon Ryan's inaccuracy (3.4) prevented him from kicking a haul.

Top draft prospect Daniel Annable (19 possessions, one goal and four clearances) also featured for the Lions.

GWS forward Max Gruzewski continued his impressive goalkicking form, recording three majors to go with his 21 possessions and 10 marks.

Toby McMullin had plenty of the ball (30 touches and seven tackles) while VFL-listed player Hugo Birks kicked four goals.

Northern Bullants (36) def. by Carlton (122)

The Blues' massive victory saw six multiple goal scorers, with Harry Lemmey's four majors leading the charge.

Francis Evans put his name up for a senior recall with three goals and 15 touches, while Jordan Boyd (30 possessions, nine marks and four tackles) and Billy Wilson (28 touches and 10 marks) were impressive.

Ruckman Marc Pittonet was dominant throughout the contest, recording 40 hitouts, 10 clearances and 20 disposals.

It was a dark day for the Bullants, whose scoreless second term was reflective of the outcome.

However, Jean-Luc Velissaris can hold his head high, after registering 34 possessions, eight marks, and five clearances.

Connor Leeflang and Patrick Fairlie were also among the standalone club's best.
