Could Sydney miss finals for a second-straight season?
Terry Wallace has his concerns. The former Western Bulldogs and Richmond coach expressed apprehension for the Swans ahead of the 2020 AFL season.
Wallace highlighted the injury woes to John Longmire's side, with the likes Buddy Franklin, Isaac Heeney and Dane Rampe all currently sidelined.
โThe Sydney Swans, Iโm a little bit worried about,โ he toldย SENโs Dwayneโs World.
โThey had a practice hit out on Friday. Now weโre still a couple of weeks away from the first hit out, but why Iโm just a little concerned, as Melbourne were this time last year, itโs all the big blokes that are off the track for Sydney at the moment.
โLance Franklin is not out there at the moment, Sam Reid is not out there, Dane Rampe is not out there, Isaac Heeney, we know about his injury, Callum Sinclair is not out there, Sam Naismith is still not out on the track for a third pre-season in a row, Tom McCartin is not on the track at the moment.
โNow, theyโve got time still, so itโs not panic stations by any stretch of the imagination, but youโd want to see those boys get some continuity over the Marsh series to at least get a game in."
Wallace was particularly critical of how thin the club's forward line stocks are without Franklin and Reid.
โWhen I look at the Swannies, that Franklin and Reid combination just becomes absolutely critical that they can get those two guys on the park," he said.
โLast year, they just did not kick enough goals as a team. Buddy kicked 27 last year and Reid kicked 28 last year and that just isnโt going to get it done and it just worries me that theyโve got all these big boys off the track again.โ
The Swans finished 15th on the ladder last year with eight wins.
