Sydney defender Joel Hamling could enter the record books by joining a fifth club, with cross-town rivals GWS reportedly interested in his services.
Hamling has spent time at Geelong, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle and currently, the Swans, for a total of 105 games, including the 2016 premiership.
But the Giants, who may lose emerging defenders Leek Aleer and Wade Derksen, will need to bolster their defensive line-up to support star talls Sam Taylor, Jack Buckley and Harry Himmelberg.
Aleer is set for a move to St Kilda, while Melbourne is poised to snare Derksen.
Hamling doesn't have a deal at Sydney beyond this season and, if he's delisted, looms as the perfect option for the Adam Kingsley-coached outfit, given he won't cost any draft capital.
If the Giants pull off the move for the 32-year-old, he will join an illustrious group of five-club players in the history of the game.
Dale Kickett, Les Abbott and Les Hughson all played for five teams during their careers.
Adrian Fletcher, the father of Brisbane premiership player Jaspa, is deemed to have officially featured for four (Geelong, St Kilda, Brisbane Bears, Brisbane Lions and Fremantle), given the Brisbane Bears merged with the Fitzroy Lions to form the Brisbane Lions.
The Giants' interest doesn't end at Hamling, with AFL Media's Josh Gabelich also revealing that Essendon's Jayden Laverde, Hawthorn's Sam Frost and Richmond's Jacob Koschitzke are other names that have been flagged as potential targets.
All three have spent large amounts of 2025 in their respective reserve sides this season.
