Sydney star Tom Papley has revealed the conversations he has had with his management since Carlton star Charlie Curnow's name has been linked to the Swans.
Papley's name has been raised as a potential target for Carlton to pursue in any deal that would see Curnow secure a move to New South Wales, with the Swans livewire having requested a move to the Blues six years ago.
In 2019, Papley requested a trade to Carlton for personal reasons, with Sydney deciding to hold the Victorian to his contract.
Speaking on The Early Crow podcast, Papley said he understood Curnow's position and the concern that could follow if his desire to leave the Blues falls flat.
"It's interesting. I've been in a similar position to what Charlie is in right now," the 29-year-old said.

"It was a little bit different... I don't know if it's true that he's not happy with the football club or not happy with (Michael) Voss. But for me, I was happy where I was and had nothing against the club. I asked for a trade for family reasons, and the club knocked it back.
"Charlie is a little bit different. It might get a little bit dirty late if something doesn't come off for him and he has to walk back in after he's maybe said something in his exit (interview) that he's not happy.
"It'd be pretty nice at the forward line in the Swans (if he joined)."
Papley revealed his management made him aware that trade speculation would likely see his name linked to the Curnow talk, with the Swans attacker stating he won't be seeking a move away from Sydney, especially if the club secures the two-time Coleman Medal winner.
The small forward is under contract until the end of the 2028 season, on a five-year extension, meaning he would have to request a trade to leave the club.
"My manager rang me (saying), 'Be wary if something comes out in the media in the next few days, and that your name is going to be thrown around in the Curnow stuff because of previous years,'" he added.

"I said that was fine. (My manager) was clear that it's not the club that wants to do that, it's solely on their management who's looking for someone to trade for Curnow.
"I was pretty stern with him that I'm pretty happy at the Swans. I'm definitely not leaving if Curnow is coming, I'll tell you that much.
"I'd love for it to happen, but we're going to have to give up a fair bit, which could mean you lose a couple of mates. I'm sure we'll be trying to do anything to try and get him."
Other Swans assets also discussed in external speculation surrounding a potential deal for Curnow include Will Hayward, Ollie Florent, Hayden McLean and the club's opening draft selection for 2025 - currently Pick 9.
Both Gold Coast and Geelong have been revealed as other potential landing spots for Curnow. However, the Blues have stood firm in stating they plan to hold their spearhead to his contract.
