St Kilda coach Ross Lyon says gun forward Max King is on track to return in Round 7, but is unsure whether it will in the AFL or through the VFL.

The Saints host West Coast at Marvel Stadium in two weeks, while the club's reserves side takes on Gold Coast at RSEA Park.

King has been referred to gun forward Max King as an "untapped prospect" at the club, given his absence from the top-flight has stretched over 650 days.

He last played in Round 16, 2024 against Port Adelaide, missing the entirety of last year with knee and soft-tissue problems.

King is still listed as TBC on the club's injury list.

Lyon also said Liam Henry is set to add something to the senior side after recovering from a hamstring injury.

"Max King is coming on quick. Really quick," Lyon said.

"(Liam) Henry's coming quick too. So there's a bit to add to this group.

"It's round 5. (King's return) won't be round six. We think all tracking well he will play round seven. Where he plays we don't know (VFL or AFL).

"He's an untapped prospect on our list."

King has kicked 159 goals in just 83 AFL games since being drafted in 2018. He signed a monster extension in 2024, locking him away until the end of 2032.

The Saints face Adelaide next week, remaining in South Australia following Gather Round.
