St Kilda co-captain Jarryn Geary has agreed to terms with the club he has called home since being selected with the 58th pick of the 2007 rookie draft.

Geary, 33, will be given another chance to add to his 204-games for the Moorabbin men after spending the vast majority of the 2021 season on the sidelines following dual leg and shoulder ailments.

The Saints announced their skipper's one-year extension in an official statement released on Friday afternoon, with the club's Head of List Management, James Gallagher, stating that the Bendigo Pioneers' product still remained offered vitality to their proposed future successes.

โ€œWeโ€™re rapt to have Jarryn go sign on for another year,โ€ Gallagher said.

"'Gears' is such an integral member of our side and his leadership, which often goes unnoticed, is a quality that every player on our list aspires towards.

โ€œAlthough Jarryn has been hit with several unlucky injuries and setbacks, his influence and on-field output will be crucial as we look to climb the ladder in 2022."

Geary has held the captaincy at St Kilda since 2017 after succeeding club champion Nick Riewoldt in the role.

The vocal defender was joined in the post by Jack Steele at the commencement of the 2021 season.

In further contract news from Linton Street, eye catching youngsters Leo Connolly and Cooper Sharman have also inked on the dotted line to remain with the club for another pair of years.

Since debuting against Richmond on Round 15 of this season, the cherubic Connolly has performed strongly for the Saints and has shown dare with his use of the Sherrin.

Sharman too has garnered plenty of praise following his four-appearances in a red, white and black guernsey, with the mid-season rookie draftee having split the sticks on six-occasions and looking sound when leading at the ball.

โ€œBoth players have had completely different and unique football journeys, but theyโ€™ve each proven their ability and importance to the club throughout the season.

โ€œLeoโ€™s ability by foot is something weโ€™re all excited to see develop further in the future, and a full pre-season under Cooperโ€™s belt will only build upon what weโ€™ve seen from just a handful of games.

โ€œFrom a very limited preparation, Cooper has made a great start to his AFL career. Heโ€™s a really humble kid who has an excellent football brain, so weโ€™re very happy to extend his contract at St Kilda.โ€

Fellow newcomer and former Kangaroo Mason Wood was also offered a one-year deal by the club.

Wood had proven handy for the Saints in patches this season, with his zenith coming after collecting three-goals and eight-marks in a Round 11 performance against his old side.

Injury may have ended the 27-year-old's year early, but Gallagher remained impressed from what he had seen from the supplemental selection.

โ€œMason has also been a really positive influence since joining the club," he said.

"so we look forward to seeing him back on the park with the younger brigade once he completes his recovery,"

The Saints are set to end their season when they face the Dockers in Hobart on Sunday afternoon.
