North Melbourne midfielder Shaun Higgins has been called into Australia's International Rules squad for the second Test against Ireland.

Higgins, who enjoyed a career best season in 2017 winning the club's best and fairest, will come into the side as cover for Scott Pendlebury (broken finger) and Michael Hibberd (calf) who are both in doubt, while Paddy Ryder will miss the match as part of a planned rest.

Meanwhile, Geelong skipper Joel Selwood will be available after missing the first match with an ankle injury.

Higgins played 21 matches this season, averaging 23.5 disposals, 7.2 score involvements, 5.7 inside 50s, five tackles, 4.4 clearances and kicking 18 goals.
