Eddie Betts has informed Carlton he wants to return to the club in 2020, according to The Herald Sun, snubbing a two-year offer to join the Suns.
The 2019 Goal of the Year winner, who turns 33 in November, boooted 37 majors this year, second at the Crows only to now former co-captain Taylor Walker.
But amidst rumours of a potential exodus at the Crows, Betts now joins Sam Jacobs in stating his plans to depart the club.
Betts spent the first nine years of his career at the Blues after debuting in 2005, before exercising his free agency rights to broker a move home to South Australia in the 2013 off-season.
Josh Jenkins and Alex Keath are among other senior players said to be weighing up their options with decisions expected in the near future as the Adelaide post-mortem continues.
It comes after the Crows lost five of their final six games to crash out on an initially improved season.
It's reported that Betts' management advised Gold Coast their client would be turning down their contract offer on Friday, with an official confirmation of his plans to nominate Carlton expected this week.
Carlton currently hold picks 8, 39, 44, 71 and 80 but with their first selection almost certainly reserved for a deal to land Sydney's Tom Papley, it's possible Betts' age may allow for the Crows to settle a more lenient arrangement.
Betts' salary is worth a hefty $500,000 for 2020, with the Crows reportedly not keen to pay any portion of it.
