The Age's Sam McClure is reporting that third-generation Blues backman Jack Silvagni is weighing up an offer from Collingwood, as the 2023 premiers look to shore up their backline.
The offer tabled by the Magpies is reportedly similar in length and monetary value to the one Carlton has presented to Silvagni, with both clubs offering ~$600,000 a season, for four years.
Silvagni is now left to weigh up other factors when deciding where to ply his trade next year and beyond; stability and success have become the norm at Collingwood since Craig McRae's appointment, while Carlton has regressed since featuring in a preliminary final in 2023.
"I'd be very surprised if he's playing in a Carlton jumper [next year]."

"The interesting thing here, though, is that if he was to leave Carlton and play for Collingwood next year, it wouldn't be about the money," McClure told Footy Classified.
"It paints a reasonably dark picture about, I guess, the frustrations in the playing group at Carlton right now.
"I will say I wouldn't be surprised if another club came late after seeing how this is transpiring, because finding solid key defenders at that sort of market rate is quite rare. So maybe a Sydney or a Western Bulldogs or someone that needs a key defender.
"A few weeks for this one to play out. Not certain he'll be playing in a Collingwood jumper Round 1 next year, but I'd be very surprised if he's playing in a Carlton jumper, so it seems like he is on the way out."
Silvagni looked excellent in defence in the season's early sledding, bedding down a key post for himself after stints as a forward and back-up ruckman characterised his first eight seasons in the navy blue.

Groin soreness has kept the reinvigorated 27-year-old out of the struggling Blues' side since Round 16, with the Pies looming as a fresh start. Collingwood is preparing for another deep finals run, having occupied top spot on the ladder for much of the 2025 season, in stark contrast to the fortunes of the Blues, who are currently languishing in twelfth.
The winds of change appear destined to sweep through Ikon Park, as Graham Wright assesses operations in his new role as club CEO. The coaching and strength and conditioning arms of the football department are rumoured to be facing significant change.
After almost a decade with his boyhood club, Silvagni may have played his last game for the Blues, with finals out of the question, change afoot, and no return date set as his groin issue persists.
The lure of premiership success may prove too much for Silvagni to ignore, even if his defection draws the ire of infamously passionate Blues faithful.
However, news of the fallout between Wright and his former club and teammate Craig Kelly, as well as Pies list boss Justin Leppitsch, is understood to be playing a role in the pursuit, with veteran journalist Caroline Wilson saying "it's become personal".
"It's become personal for the Carlton board and for the Carlton membership," Wilson said on The Agenda Setters.
"It was six or eight weeks ago that Carlton offered Jack Silvagni a four-year deal. For the first time, really, he's a serious free agent and a serious player on the free agency market.
"If I'm Jack Silvagni I'm sitting there going, 'Why do I stay? What do I actually owe this club?'"

"Yesterday (Tuesday), the realisation from Graham Wright that this was becoming a major issue, and that Jack mightn't realise just how much he is wanted at Carlton, prompted Wright to get in touch with Silvagni. They had a long conversation.
"I think Graham Wright is genuinely concerned for Jack. He would know that this would be something absolutely tearing him in two."
