The 2019 AFL Draft has turned out to be one of the strongest drafts of the last decade, headlined by elite midfield talent, with five players earning All-Australian selections and four players being key pieces in premiership sides.

It's clear now that several teams got their selection wrong, but they didn't have the hindsight that we have today, six years later.

So here is a re-draft of the top 15 of the 2019 AFL Draft, factoring in their career to date, team success, personal awards, and also their future potential.

For context, this was the original order of the top 15 picks in the 2019 AFL Draft

  1. Matt Rowell (Gold Coast)
  2. Noah Anderson (Gold Coast)
  3. Luke Jackson (Melbourne)
  4. Lachlan Ash (GWS)
  5. Dylan Stephens (Sydney)
  6. Fischer McAsey (Adelaide)
  7. Hayden Young (Fremantle)
  8. Caleb Serong (Fremantle)
  9. Liam Henry (Fremantle)
  10. Tom Green (GWS)
  11. Sam Flanders (Gold Coast)
  12. Kysaiah Pickett (Melbourne)
  13. Will Day (Hawthorn)
  14. Miles Bergman (Port Adelaide)
  15. Cody Weightman (Western Bulldogs)

13Port Adelaide select: Josh Worrell (+16)

Josh Worrell is another big riser in the 2019 AFL re-draft, jumping up 16 places and heading to cross-town rivals Port Adelaide.

Worrell had a breakout season this year, making the All-Australian squad of 44, averaging a career best 18 disposals to be ranked elite against other key defenders.

With Port's lack of key defenders, Worrell would have been the perfect addition to their side, and his elite kicking would help any team in the league.
