The 2019 AFL Draft has turned out to be one of the strongest drafts of the last decade, headlined by elite midfield talent, with five players earning All-Australian selections and four players being key pieces in premiership sides.

It's clear now that several teams got their selection wrong, but they didn't have the hindsight that we have today, six years later.

So here is a re-draft of the top 15 of the 2019 AFL Draft, factoring in their career to date, team success, personal awards, and also their future potential.

For context, this was the original order of the top 15 picks in the 2019 AFL Draft

  1. Matt Rowell (Gold Coast)
  2. Noah Anderson (Gold Coast)
  3. Luke Jackson (Melbourne)
  4. Lachlan Ash (GWS)
  5. Dylan Stephens (Sydney)
  6. Fischer McAsey (Adelaide)
  7. Hayden Young (Fremantle)
  8. Caleb Serong (Fremantle)
  9. Liam Henry (Fremantle)
  10. Tom Green (GWS)
  11. Sam Flanders (Gold Coast)
  12. Kysaiah Pickett (Melbourne)
  13. Will Day (Hawthorn)
  14. Miles Bergman (Port Adelaide)
  15. Cody Weightman (Western Bulldogs)

12Hawthorn select: Miles Bergman (+2)

Another defender-turned-midfielder, Miles Bergman is a versatile defender who can play on smalls and talls and has shown his ability to play in the midfield, locking down some of the competition's best midfielders.

Missing out on Will Day in this re-draft, the Hawks would likely select the next best available midfield talent, and Bergman is that.

So far, he has only had limited midfield so far in his career, and mainly as a defensive midfielder, but he has all the skills to develop into an elite midfielder.
