The AFL has is set to open up a hub in Western Australia, according to 7 News reporter Ryan Daniels.

He states that West Coast and Fremantle will likely play one more round in Queensland before returning to Perth.

Four Victorian clubs could fly into Perth from Round 8 and join the Western Australian clubs in the quarantine hub.

“Confirmed. Lock it in. The AFL will have a hub in WA once the games in QLD are done. Possibility of one more round being played on GoldCoast, absolute worst case scenario two – but that’ll be it. Interstate clubs will fly in and play each other during WA quarantine,” Daniels tweeted.

“Most likely scenario: In round 6 West Coast would play Adelaide, Fremantle to face a team that would fly into Qld. Derby back in WA for round 7 played in quarantine. After that four Vic clubs – teams unconfirmed – will fly in and quarantine at Crown. Games at Optus (Stadium).

“The key change – Government, Cops and health officials allowing teams to fly in and play each other during quarantine. That means no need for a bye that would stall the season. Opened everything up.”

Daniels told SEN's SEN’s Dwayne’s World that up to six Victorian clubs will be flying to WA for the second block of the AFL's fixture.

“There’s going to be an AFL hub in Western Australia. 100 per cent, you can lock it in and take it to the bank. It is going to happen,” Daniels said.

“The details of that, I’ve got some detail, it’s still being worked out, there’s a chance for one more game to be played up on the Gold Coast (in Round 6) with the WA teams.

“In that scenario West Coast will play Adelaide and Fremantle will play a team in from interstate, then they would come back to WA and play a derby under quarantine rules, because in WA we have a 14-day quarantine which is mandatory, they would play each other in that quarantine period at Optus Stadium.

“At that point at least four and as many as six, but at least four Victorian teams would fly to WA, quarantine, and be able to play each other during the quarantine which was the big sticking point before all of this could be released.

“As I said, you can take it to the bank. It’s 100 per cent happening. It’s just that one final detail as to whether they play one more game in Queensland or not, but it’s definitely happening.

“If it’s just four (Victorian teams travelling) there would be six teams over here (total) so you could do the math and say those four teams would have to play each other once in that scenario and they’d have to play the West Australian teams so it’s four or five weeks at most.”
