North Melbourne isn't making their desires shy as they enter the races for Brisbane defender Brandon Starcevich and Carlton's Jack Silvagni.

The Kangaroos are looking to bolster their defensive line, and are in desperate need to field some experience under Alastair Clarkson.

The interest comes as the pair of free agents weigh up their futures at their respective clubs.

Starcevich is weighing up interest from all over the country, and AFL Media's Riley Beveridge believes North Melbourne could be a potential destination.

"He's a restricted free agent at the Lions," Beveridge said on Gettable.

"He's been assessing his options... the Lions would like to retain him. They've tabled a deal for him to stay, but he has strong interest from clubs around the country.

"Notably in Victoria, Essendon has strong interest, as does North Melbourne, another club that has circled Brandon Starcevich."

The same goes for Silvagni at the Blues, who is believed to be courted by Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.

"North have asked the question of Jack Silvagni," Channel 7's Mitch Cleary said on Tradies podcast.

Carlton enters an era of uncertainty as incoming CEO Graham Wright could conduct a club-wide clean-out.

North Melbourne has used emerging talents Charlie Comben and Wil Dawson in key defensive roles, while experienced heads Griffin Logue and Aidan Corr also filter through the senior line-up.

Caleb Daniel and Colby McKercher have occupied positions across half back, as father-son gun Jackson Archer has also featured as a lockdown small defender.

But the potential inclusion of Starcevich and Silvagni would improve the Kangaroos defensively.
