Hawthorn is the latest club to enter the race for in-demand GWS utility Harry Perryman, who will be an unrestricted free agent at the cessation of the 2024 season.

Perryman - who has already garnered interest from South Australian clubs Adelaide and Port Adelaide - will have his hands full when it comes to decision time, with the Giants reportedly tabling a five-year deal.

However, the Hawks, who are eager to attract established talent to their young list, "have the salary cap space to splash the cash", with the 25-year-old well within their radar, according to Channel 9's Xander McGuire.

"Hawthorn has entered the race to sign GWS utility Harry Perryman, who is shaping as one of the most in-demand unrestricted free agents this year," McGuire said.

"The Giants have tabled a five-year deal for Perryman, who is in their leadership group, believed to be worth around $600,000-$650,000 per season.

"But rivals including Adelaide and Port Adelaide are willing to up that to six years and pay significantly more.

"Hawthorn, they'll also have to pay overs to be competitive, but they are very serious about their pursuit and they have the salary cap space to splash the cash.

"They also have interest in St Kilda free agent Josh Battle and have tabled a deal to keep Blake Hardwick at Waverley beyond 2024."

For rival clubs to pry Perryman out of the Giants, they'll need to pay "overs", which currently sits around the $600,000 mark.

With Hawthorn believing they are up to their necks with the GWS star, their eyes have also averted to St Kilda defender Josh Battle, who like Perryman, will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

AFL Media's Cal Twomey reported that Battle "has a longer-term deal in front of him at the Saints" but it is understood that he is considering his options.

Given the dearth of talls in the market, it is expected that the 25-year-old will receive some substantial offers to lure him away from Moorabbin.
