Melbourne has re-signed project key forward Luker Kentfield to a one-year extension, extending his time at the club until the end of 2026.

Kentfield joined the Demons with Pick 11 in the 2024 mid-season draft, and has impressed in the 12 months he's been at the club.

The 20-year-old has played 17 games for Casey in the VFL, showing strong signs as a key position prospect for the club.

The Western Australian is known for his contested marking, aggression and aerial presence, which has seen the Demons put more time and effort into the youngster.

Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb was excited by the club's latest re-signing, and provided insight into what's prevented Kentfield from an AFL debut.

"Having watched Luker grow from strength to strength since joining us in 2024, we're pleased to have him sign on for another year," Lamb said.

"Unfortunately, he's suffered some illness at the beginning of the year, which set him back a touch; however, we're really proud of his resilience and determination to improve and grow in our environment.

"While he's yet to make his AFL debut, we have great hopes that he will have opportunity in the near future."

Kentfield's recommitment to the club follows Blake Howes and Kysaiah Pickett, in signing fresh deals.
