Hawthorn veteran Luke Hodge has spoken about his future on Triple M's The Saturday Rub, but admitted he hasn't given it much thought yet.

The 32-year-old has played 294 games for the Hawks since making his debut in against Richmond in round five in 2002, and is out of contract at the end of the current season.

Hodge is averaging 24.5 disposals a game so far this year and is still in Hawthorn's best 22, and said that while he wasn't sure about his playing future, there's one thing he's certain of.

"I'll be another year older! That's about all I know at this stage," Hodge said on Triple M.

"Footy's a long time. The season takes (a long time), especially when you're older."

The four-time premiership player said he would make a decision later on this year regarding his future, but says he won't give it up due to his lack of love for the game.

"I'm still enjoying my football," he said.

"If it's my last season I'm enjoying that and enjoying playing. If I end up going around again, that decision will be made later in the year.

"But to be honest it's the last thing on my mind. There's that much other stuff going on with how we're going and how we're trying to improve to think about what's going to happen next year."
