Flynn Perez and Jack Riding have put their name up in lights for an AFL lifeline after strong showings for Hawthorn against Geelong in Monday's match simulation.
Perez and Riding are vying for a spot on the Hawks' list via the SSP, which closes on March 2. Hawthorn has two vacancies at the club.
The Ex-Roo lined up alongside half-back as assistant coach David Hale, who took the reins from Sam Mitchell for the day, cycled through many players in the defensive lineup.
Perez had many impressive moments during the practice match, showcasing his AFL readiness as a third-tall defender.
His defensive attributes and offensive flair were on display, while his long, pinpoint kicking was reflected when he slotted a goal from 55 metres in the second term.

Perez has been a standout for SANFL club Sturt over the past two years, claiming a premiership last year whilst putting his name up at AFL clubland.
He previously spent four years at North Melbourne, and was delisted at the end of 2023 with 24 games.
Riding spent most of his time through the wing and in the backline as defensive depth.
The Werribee Tigers gun was tidy with the ball in hand, but also showed his versatility in multiple roles.
Riding has emerged as an AFL fancy over the past two seasons at VFL level, averaging a career-best 24 disposals, as well as five clearances and five tackles, each outing in 2025.
"Both of those guys have had a good summer," Hale said post-match.
"Perez has been able to slot into the backline with a few guys missing in terms of playing State of Origin. He's shown he can use the ball well. His kicking today at times was really good.
"He's done what he can. Red (Jack Riding) came in late in terms of training with us, but he's done a lot of things well."
Ethan Stanley is also pushing for an AFL recall, but wasn't named in Monday's squad.
Hawthorn will also be pleased with the efforts of untried defenders Noah Mraz and Bodie Ryan.
Mraz was often tasked with manning Geelong's Shannon Neale, while Ryan's courageous efforts in the air were noted by keen observers.
Veteran Jarman Impey's trademark run was on show as Jai Newcombe flourished in his new role as co-captain of the Hawks.
Hawthorn defeated Geelong by 17 points.
