Gold Coast have confirmed that contracted utility Sam Flanders has expressed a desire to depart the Suns in favour of opportunities elsewhere.
Flanders is contracted with the Suns, who have "reiterated to Sam" he has a deal with the club for the next two years.
The Gippsland product has been forced out of Gold Coast's midfield despite a stellar 2024 campaign, with top-line Suns players Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson, Touk Miller, and Bailey Humphrey favoured.
The situation has left Flanders to play in the front half, with his 2025 numbers dropping significantly compared to his form last year.
At his exit meeting with the Suns, Flanders informed the club of his desire to seek a move elsewhere, with the Suns noting his signed contract in response.
"Sam expressed an interest in exploring other opportunities for next year at today's exit meeting," Suns player talent manager Craig Cameron said in a statement.

"However, we have reiterated to Sam that he is a contracted player with our Football Club and part of our best 23 players."
Flanders, who finished third in Gold Coast's 2024 Club Champion count, has played 89 games for the Suns since being drafted with the 11th overall pick in 2019.
He would play a career-high 23 games under coach Damien Hardwick this year, including the club's first two ever finals.
Reports have suggested Victorian clubs St Kilda, Melbourne, Essendon and Carlton have expressed some level of interest in Flanders' services.
Gold Coast have also confirmed off-contract forward Malcolm Rosas' desire to be traded this off-season.
