After a stellar season in the navy blue and white hoops, Geelong midfielder Sam Menegola has penned a new contract extension to remain at Kardinia Park until the end of the 2023 season.

The club announced the re-signing on Wednesday, with Menegola having a career best season in 2020 after finishing sixth in the club's best and fairest and earning a an All-Australian squad nomination.

Menegola ranked top four in the league for possessions and marks this season after playing every match for the year.

“Sam is an important player for us and he has turned himself into a player who is strong inside the contest as a midfielder and hard running on the outside as an influential winger,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.

“Sam works as hard as any player and his dedication to his fitness and his craft has paid off. Sam has exceptional skills and bravery and is a professional in every sense of the word. It’s great for all parties that we have been able to agree to this extension.”
