Essendon's decision to delist Will Setterfield could open the door for a fourth AFL club to sign the midfielder.

After stints at GWS, Carlton and the Bombers, Setterfield is more than worthy of another chance.

The 27-year-old proved his worth as a defensively-minded on-baller, tasked with curbing the efforts of Patrick Cripps and Marcus Bontempelli, whilst also finding plenty of the football himself.

However, through injury and selection, Setterfield's opportunities have been limited, but that doesn't mean a rival club could swoop and sign him as a delisted free agent, rookie or SSP prospect.

So who will take the punt of the three-club journeyman? We look at four potential landing spots for Will Setterfield.

Like the Pies, the Crows' midfield failed to stand up in the big moments as they returned to the finals only to bow out in straight sets.

The absence of Izak Rankine and the development of Josh Rachele will aid the club in 2026, but the heavy reliance on captain Jordan Dawson proved too much for the skipper in September.

Adelaide went after Christian Petracca and was linked to Zach Merrett, but ultimately missed out on both, leaving the door ajar for a prospect to step into the midfield group.

Enter Setterfield, whose toughness and defensive skills suit the aggression of the Crows' on-ball brigade.

He would replace the likes of Matt Crouch on the list, but also free up Rory Laird to return to a half-back role, helping fill the void left by Brodie Smith.
