Former Western Bulldog spearheads VFL state team

Former Western Bulldogs-listed forward Charlie Clarke headlines the 43-man VFL state team squad to take on a SANFL representative side in Gather Round.

Clarke's selection comes on the back of a sterling start to the season for his native Port Melbourne, with back-to-back three goal performances.

He has also averaged seven tackles and 19.5 disposals per game for the Borough.

The match will take place at Stratarama Stadium, Glenelg, at 2.30pm local time on Saturday April 11.

Tasmania has former Essendon-listed Jye Menzie, Mid-Season Draft aspirant Jed Hagan and former AFL-listed forward Hugh Dixon represented in the squad.

Coburg is the most well-represented side with five players: Donovan Toohey, Jack Bytel, Cooper Keogh, Jaidyn Stephenson and Mitch Podhajski.

Reigning premier Western Bulldogs is represented by midfield trio Billy Crofts, Cooper Craig-Peters and Jack Billings.

Liam McMahon featured last year before Essendon selected him at the Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

There are a total of 16 clubs represented, with 13 players taking part in the match last year.

As previously announced, Frankston VFL coach Jackson Kornberg will lead the side, with assistance from Werribee coach Dan Lowther, Essendon's Cameron Joyce and GWS line coach Trent Dennis-Lane.
