The forward line is the glamour position in Australian football, home to the game's most famous and loved players.

The front six often grab the headlines with match-winning hauls and highlight-reel moments, providing the finishing touch that turns dominance into scoreboard pressure.

Forward groups signify a club's attacking identity, with elite sides boasting multifaceted attacks and rebuilding teams typically lacking the firepower to convert inside 50s effectively.

So, who claims the crown as the best attack in the AFL for 2025? Here's Zero Hanger's ranking, from 18th to first.

Who kicked the first goal of the 2024 AFL Grand Final?

With injuries to Logan McDonald and Joel Amartey, Sydney's forward line was nowhere near as potent as it was in 2024, dropping from the league's most damaging attack to ninth in points scored.

The Swans' demonstrative midfield held their scoring balance to deal with the injury woes, with Isaac Heeney's 34 goals leading the attack, but in terms of legitimate forward punch, Will Hayward's 29 goals led the way among listed forwards.

For every club's leading goalkicking forwards, those 29 goals only outdo Essendon, Richmond and West Coast's best, highlighting the deprivation the Swans had inside 50.

However, expect things to change in 2026 with the addition of the two-time Coleman medallist Charlie Curnow into the mix.
