Delisted Bulldogs utility Ben Cavarra has signed with VFL club Box Hill for the 2022 season.

Cavarra played just the four matches for the Bulldogs at AFL level across his three years at Whitten Oval, making his debut against Collingwood in Round 1 last year.

The 26-year-old made a further two appearances in 2020 before adding the sole game to his career tally in 2021, lining up against the Suns in Round 5.

Cavarra joined defender Will Hayes in not being offered a new deal at the Kennel for next season, with the club having confirmed the list call in October.

The pair were originally delisted 12 months ago before being re-selected as rookies for this season, signing one-year deals.

Ongoing injuries limited Cavarra's exposure at the elite level, with the midfield-forward ace honing his skills with Footscray in the second-tier competition.

Cavarra has been a prominent presence for Footscray across the course of the last three years, with the Lysterfield product having also built a strong career in the VFL with previous stints at Frankston and Williamstown.

The Hawks revealed on Sunday that Cavarra has joined their venture for next season, adding plenty of fire-power to Box Hill's midfield ensemble.

Across his nine appearances in the red, white and blue this year, Cavarra featured among the best afield on four occasions and accumulated 11 goals for the season.

The Hawks recorded eight wins from their 10 matches this year to be placed third on the VFL ladder before the season's abrupt ending.

Box Hill have welcomed senior coach Clint Proctor to the club for 2022, with the newly-appointed mentor succeeding Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell.
