Former North Melbourne midfielder Will Phillips has signed with East Ringwood two weeks after the club announced Melbourne premiership player Steven May committed to the club.
Phillips joins May after spending the past five years on the Kangaroos list, playing 50 senior games before he was delisted.
The former Pick 3 has joined Collingwood's VFL side for the 2026 season, but as aligned with the Kangaroos as his local club.
It's a huge signing for the Eastern Football Netball League club, especially following May's inclusion.
The key defender retired from the Demons despite having one year remaining on his contract at the beginning of March amid dealing with personal issues.
May was urged to explore his options at the end of last year, with Melbourne, under the new direction of Steven King, heading toward a youthful defensive set-up, with the likes of Daniel Turner and Blake Howes to be favoured at the selection table.
The inaugural Gold Coast Sun spent eight seasons in Queensland, two of which were captain, before he made the move to the Demons ahead of 2019.
May featured in Melbourne's drought-breaking premiership in 2021, and was named in the All-Australian side in that year, and in 2022.
He finished with 251 AFL games.
East Ringwood will open its 2026 season against South Croydon. The Kangaroos finished second on the ladder last year, but bowed out in week two of the finals series.
