The Bulldogs claimed a massive 93-point victory over the Bombers on Friday night but were unable to leave Marvel Stadium unscathed.

Superstar midfielder Tom Liberatore appeared to suffer a foot injury during a marking contest in the third quarter, which saw him be taken down to the locker rooms for further examination by medical staff. While he did return to the contest shortly thereafter, he was eventually substituted from the match early in the fourth quarter.

Bulldogs senior coach Luke Beveridge spoke about the incident post-game, relaying that the injury appeared to be minor and that the club's decision to sub Liberatore from the game was a precautionary approach ahead of a titanic clash with GWS next week.

"He got the studs scraped against his ankle and it bruised him up a little bit," Beveridge said.

"He was okay, wasn't impeded but we just thought [we have] a six-day break. We pulled him out of the midfield for a brief period just to make sure he was okay.

"We were a little bit conservative with him tonight, took him out late... he should be fine next week."

Despite the injury scare, Liberatore put together another fantastic performance in the Bulldogs' thrashing, registering 22 disposals and seven marks in just 52% time on ground.

Beveridge was pleased to see his superstars put in another electric shift for the club, especially after a long celebratory week where Liberatore and captain Marcus Bontempelli were named as two of the 25 greatest players in club history.

"[Bontempelli] and Tom have been recognised as two of the 25 [greatest Bulldogs players]... For the two of them, they've had a bit on. Monday night I think Marcus said he'll sleep well over the next couple nights. They're probably happy that they've moved past the 250th, they've moved on from it so now they can focus on this last month and continue to play great footy."

The Bulldogs return to Marvel Stadium next Thursday night, facing the challenge of the GWS Giants to keep their top eight hopes alive.
