We've reached the second last day of the trade period, with deals involving close to 20 players still yet to be finalised.

We'll have each agreed trade brought to you below as they happen, with Tuesday expected to be busy ahead of a frantic deadline day.

Follow throughout the day as deals unfold on Day 8 of the player exchange period...

Jiath the Demon

Hawthorn's Changkuoth Jiath has agreed to join Melbourne ahead of the trade deadline on Wednesday, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Jiath is contracted at the Hawks until the end of 2027, but is hopeful to be sent to the Demons for more consistent senior opportunities.

Bombers send pick for Fiorini

Essendon will trade a 2026 third-round selection for Gold Coast midfielder Brayden Fiorini.

The Suns and Bombers were in deep conversations over the past week over a suitable trade, which, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, they've arrived at one.

Despite Fiorini being a free agent, the Bombers elected to trade for him to avoid diluting the free agency compensation secured (currently Pick 21) from Sam Draper's departure.

Merrett saga won't end in 2025

The management of Essendon captain Zach Merrett has reportedly 'warned' the Bombers that the midfielder will seek another move in 12 months should his desire to join Hawthorn not come to fruition in 2025.

Merrett remains keen on leaving the Dons for the Hawks this week as he eyes success and a fresh start, with the six-time best and fairest meeting with key Essendon figures to further push for a trade.

While Essendon have remained resolute that Merrett won't be traded, Merrett's agent Tom Petroro has told the club on Monday that 'the same happens next year' if he is held to his contract for another year, per Tom Morris.

Merrett is contracted at Tullaamarine for the next two years, and would likely lose his captaincy if he were to remain in the red and black next year.

The Hawks, while keen to lure the 30-year-old to the club, may still struggle to appease the Bombers, even if they table two first-round selections, including Pick 9 for this year's draft.

Lions-Pies settle pick swap

Brisbane and Collingwood have agreed to a trade of draft picks that will aid the latter's trade plans.

The Lions will send the Magpies Picks 45 and 56, while the reigning premiers will receive Pick 59 and a 2026 third-round selection that's tied to Melbourne.

The agreement is tipped to better position the Magpies in talks with Sydney over a trade for wantaway forward Jack Buller before Wednesday night's deadline.

Dogs-Suns trade for Ugle-Hagan 'not far away'

A deal that will see former No.1 pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan traded to Gold Coast is expected to be struck on Tuesday.

According to 9 News reporter Tom Morris, negotiations between the Suns and Dogs will ramp up today, with the paperwork tipped to be lodged late Tuesday or early on deadline day.

The Suns have Picks 7, 8, 15, 18, 29, 36, 52, 70 and 74 for the 2025 AFL Draft, and are in talks with the Dogs over a deal that would also see Connor Budarick head to the Kennel.

Gold Coast also need to strike a deal with Melbourne for Norm Smith Medal winner Christian Petracca.

The 18 Players yet to be traded

As many as 18 key names are set to shape the final 36 hours of the trade period, with some of the AFL's biggest stars potentially on the move ahead of Wednesday's 7:30pm (AEDT) deadline.

Of those 18, 11 are contracted for 2026 or beyond, with the likes of Charlie Curnow, Zach Merrett, Christian Petracca and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan within that crop.

Fringe players are also waiting for their trade requests to land them elsewhere, with the likes of Jai Serong, Jack Buller, Connor Budarick and Leek Aleer all left to wait.

Aleer could remain at GWS after St Kilda's stunning backflip last week, while Hawthorn's Changkuoth Jiath is another who might be on the move but has no standout suitor.

Here are the 18 key names yet to be traded:
