The AFL have released a statement on the surrounding the racism incidents that took place on Saturday night during the Showdown.

Both clubs reported incidents following the round three clash between Port Adelaide and Adelaide, and the AFL have now stepped in, sending out the following media release.

AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan spoke about the great job both clubs had done in bringing the situation to light, and will vow to continue to stamp racism out of the game.

McLachlan is scheduled to hold a press conference regarding the issue on Tuesday afternoon.
