Collingwood father-son prospect Tom McGuane has reportedly been told by the Magpies that they will not nominate him as a father-son selection ahead of November's National Draft.

According to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, Collingwood have not ruled out selecting McGuane entirely, and may opt to pick him up in the rookie draft should he remain available, however have committed to not taking him in the National Draft under the father-son banner.

It means rival clubs, who have reportedly demonstrated interest in the midfielder, are able to select McGuane in the National Draft without a fighting bid from Collingwood.

McGuane is projected to be selected in the later stages of the National Draft or be picked up in the rookie draft, but Twomey stated that he has commanded interest from rival clubs during the year and been interviewed by multiple of them.
