10 replacement options in your AFL Fantasy and SuperCoach sides for Zac Williams

Star Blues recruit Zac Williams has been suspended for his bump on Saint Hunter Clark and will miss the opening round of the AFL season. Slated for more midfield time in the navy blue despite having defender eligibility on both fantasy formats, the former Giant has been one of the most popular selections in AFL Fantasy ($626,000) and SuperCoach ($458,600) sides. But now missing Round 1, fantasy coaches are left with very little choice but to say farewell and look elsewhere. Do you look for a like-for-like, or do you have the cash to upgrade? So many questions to answer, and in no particular order, we have 10 replacement options to consider. Jayden Short AFL Fantasy Price – $694,000 SuperCoach Price – $519,300 The rebounding Tiger is fast becoming a must-have in your team. He has become a key asset at Richmond and is a proven point-scorer. His 43 possessions in Richmond's AAMI Community Series showed his ability to get involved in an attacking sense and score huge points. He will take kick-ins as well which is a big tick for owners and is a good user with the footy which is a massive plus in the SuperCoach column. (Photo by Michael Willson/AFL Media/Getty Images)[/caption] Jordan Clark AFL Fantasy Price – $422,000 SuperCoach Price – $241,800 Clark has seemingly always been on the verge of a breakout season, as every pre-season he is spoken about as a must get for fantasy players and by the early parts of the season he is out again. 2020 looks like the year he may get some genuine game time and if his AAMI Community Series game is anything to go by, he has taken another step up. He is a great price downgrade from Williams and will likely rise in price, allowing for a good upgrade in another line. (Photo by Quinn Rooney/Getty Images)[/caption] Rory Laird AFL Fantasy Price – $763,000 SuperCoach Price – $564,800 If you didn't already have Laird, he should just about be your main target. A great like-for-like replacement here, Williams' beauty is his listing as a defender when he will play as a genuine midfielder. Laird can slot into your defence and will be playing in the guts again in 2021. Laird is a must-have for the 2021 season and if you don't already have him locked away now is your perfect opportunity to do-so. The GWS defender is another very handy price downgrade if you're looking to build a bank off the back of the Williams suspension. He has been in the system for a while now and looks set for a breakout year in 2021. Will be very handy to make a profit off in upcoming weeks as well. https://twitter.com/AFLFantasy/status/1369397581483143168 Orazio Fantasia AFL Fantasy Price – $353,000 SuperCoach Price – $271,800 Fantasia is very well priced off the back of some injury interrupted campaigns and is a good slot into defence considering he is a genuine small forward. Fantasia kicked 3 goals in a half in the AAMI Community Series and looked like the Orazio of old. It seems likely he will go up in price before too long and he looks set to be in the Power side for round one. If you're not keen on rookies he is a very solid look. Sam Docherty AFL Fantasy Price – $676,000 SuperCoach Price – $496,000 A fan favourite in past seasons, Docherty will again lead the Blues backline and looks set for another good season. He has had some health and injury concerns over the summer but looks fine going into the season proper. A good replacement as you lose a Bagger get a Bagger and he will share the kick-in duties with Adam Saad. His usually tidy ball use also a massive plus for SuperCoach players. Has smashed triple digit averages in the past and can be forgiven for putting up lower numbers in his return from consecutive ACLs. Mills has shown he has the ability to score big when around the footy and he looks set for that opportunity, with the Swans needing experience at the coal face. Mills is a long-term solution if you have decided Williams indiscretion is too much to look past. Only owned by 5% of SuperCoach players he would be a very valuable asset while last year he proved he is a AFL Fantasy scorer. (Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images)[/caption] Jack Lukosius AFL Fantasy Price – $595,000 SuperCoach Price – $430,800 This one is more steered towards SuperCoach players, as Lukosius' foot skills set him apart in the SuperCoach format, while he racks up plenty of the footy across half back. Another one who takes advantage of the play-on from kick-ins which allows him to get in the game even on a poor day. His price may scare a few off but if you are trading Williams you will have the cash to spare. He will play games and looks a lock for the round one side. A great cash cow who will go up in price as the season rolls on, especially if he gets plenty of games under his belt. His ball use is another huge plus and the case could be made that he is a lock already. You will have to stump up some cash for the Bulldog defender but he looks set for a massive season thanks to some rule changes and a game style that suits his individual game down to the ground.
