Hawthorn midfielder Liam Shiels will miss up to four weeks with to a hamstring injury.

Shiels suffered the injury in the first half of Hawthorn's win over Port Adelaide on Thursday night at Adelaide Oval, with the club confirming on Tuesday that it will be a three to four week recovery process.

“It’s a no-risk approach,” General Manger of Football Operations Chris Fagan said.

“We were hopeful for a better result than that, but that’s not what the scan showed. He’s just got to do a rehab now and be right for a few weeks’ time.”

Shiels has played 13 matches this season, averaging 17.4 disposals per game.
