Geelong ruckman Nathan Vardy has finally made the move out west, with the Eagles exchanging pick 72 for the 25-year-old.

Vardy and the Cats had been in talks with West Coast for the majority of the trade period regarding the big man's future, although it's taken until the final 90 minutes of the trade window for both sides to come to terms on a deal.

Over an injury plagued career Vardy managed only 25 games since debuting against Carlton in 2011, and the versatile ruckman/forward took the field just once in 2016 as foot injuries marred his season.

Vardy was drafted at pick 42 in the 2009 National Draft.
