Brisbane has reportedly hit a hurdle in contract negotiations with midfielder Lewis Taylor.

Fox Footy's Jake Niall has reported that discussions between the 21-year-old's management and the club around a new three-year deal have broken down, despite positive progress early in the negotiations.

Brisbane is said to still be confident that Taylor will re-sign, however, both parties remain a fair distance apart.

Taylor has averaged 21 disposals across his career, but is averaging just 16 in six games so far this season, before he was dropped for the Round 7 clash against Port Adelaide.

The 2014 Rising Star winner has played 50 games since making his debut in Round 1, 2014.
