Former North great David King predicts that St Kilda's Max King will win the 2020 Rising Star award.

The young forward was taken with pick 4 in the 2018 National Draft but didn't play a game last year as injuries cruelled his season.

But the two-time premiership Kangaroo is expecting big things from him in 2020, with Josh Bruce's defection to the Western Bulldogs opening up an opportunity in the forward line for him.

“Max King will be a star,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“I’ve got him as my tip for the Rising Star this year. He’s 200cm & super quick.

“(Josh Bruce leaving) opens up that spot for him and he’s the heir apparent.”

Number one draft pick Matt Rowell is currently the favourite to claim the Rising Star, with some even predicting him to have a better season than last year's winner Sam Walsh.

Gold Coast's Izak Rankine and Noah Anderson, Melbourne's Luke Jackson and Fremantle's Caleb Serong are among the other favourites.
